How Is Hormone Replacement Therapy Monitored?

Rejuvime Medical • May 29, 2020

As you begin hormone replacement therapy (HRT) , you may be unsure of what to expect in the long run. HRT is a powerful way to improve your long-term quality of life, but that does mean it involves a long-term commitment. Fortunately, careful monitoring during each step of the process makes sure your treatment is always evolving with you and giving your body exactly the support it needs along the way.

In this blog post, we’ll explain how our team of specialists monitors your health and well-being during HRT to keep you feeling your best in the present and future.

Routine Lab Work

We run specific lab panels throughout your treatment to make sure your therapy is safe, accurate, and effective.

Your Rejuvime Medical experience starts with a Comprehensive Hormone and Wellness Panel to provide a baseline overview of your sex hormones, thyroid and adrenal function, metabolic health, and other benchmarks. The panels vary slightly for men and women.

Once your treatment begins, we run regular labs to measure any changes and make sure all your levels are optimal. This lets us adapt your plan as we go to keep you right on track.

Provider Consult

Your nurse practitioner regularly meets with you 1-on-1 to monitor your progress and discuss it with you in-depth. At these meetings, your provider reviews the results of your routine lab work and discusses your clinical symptoms to check that your current plan is working well.

Your initial follow-ups take place every 3 months, with longer-term check-ins scheduled every 6 months. Learn more about how hormone levels change over time and why regular check-ins are so crucial in this related blog post.

Customized Treatment Plan

Because hormone therapy is such an individualized process, we work with you throughout your experience to make adjustments as needed.

Based on your symptoms and lab results, your nurse practitioner may recommend changes to your program along the way, such as increasing or decreasing your doses of certain hormones.

Regular Health Screenings

It’s important to schedule regular check-ups and breast cancer screenings during HRT. While this is always a good idea for your overall health, it’s especially important during HRT as it will help early detection of any possible issues or side effects. It lets you and your doctor maintain a big-picture understanding of how your therapy is affecting your body holistically.

HRT is a long-term change designed to keep you strong, vital, and thriving throughout the aging process. Our close monitoring process keeps your treatment up to speed each step of the way so you can age gracefully and live your most active, adventurous life.
