If you’ve tried unsuccessfully to shed weight by exercising more often, restricting calories, and consuming a healthier diet, you may need a medical weight-loss solution. At Rejuvime Medical, we offer semaglutide, a breakthrough weight-loss medication that belongs to a class of drugs called GLP-1 receptor agonists, for women and men in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Metairie, and other locations in Louisiana and Mississippi. This medically monitored weight loss treatment can help you reduce hunger, lose stubborn weight, and feel more confident.

What Is Semaglutide?

Semaglutide is the active ingredient in insulin management medications prescribed to treat people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. One of the side effects diabetic patients notice while taking semaglutide is significant weight loss. That’s because it mimics the body’s own natural appetite-suppressing hormone and improves your ability to regulate blood sugar levels. Semaglutide helps with weight loss by reducing hunger and stabilizing blood sugar.

What Are the Benefits of Semaglutide?

Semaglutide’s benefits extend beyond weight loss and feeling more confident in your appearance. Those benefits include lower blood pressure and reduced total cholesterol and triglyceride levels. These improvements not only contribute to your overall health but also reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and other illnesses.

Is Semaglutide Safe?

When used as directed by a qualified healthcare professional, semaglutide is safe and effective for weight loss. It’s important to discuss any concerns or issues you may have with your provider after starting semaglutide treatments.

What Happens if You Stop Taking Semaglutide?

Clinical studies, including one conducted in 2021 and published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, show that people typically regain much of their weight after stopping weight loss treatments such as semaglutide. An increase in appetite and caloric intake occurs fairly soon after stopping these medications.

A 2024 study, however, showed that people who exercised while using a weight loss drug kept off far more of their weight after quitting the medication than people who didn’t work out, and they maintained more muscle.

What Are the Potential Side Effects of Semaglutide?

The most common side effects of semaglutide are gastrointestinal issues, such as nausea and diarrhea. These side effects typically go away over time as the body adjusts to the medication. Serious side effects are rare. If you experience any side effects while taking our medically monitored weight loss medications, you should contact Rejuvime Medical or your primary care physician.

Semaglutide FAQ

What is Rejuvime’s source of semaglutide?

We proudly partner with a pharmacy accredited by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP) for compounding pharmacy practices. Its high standards align with our goal of providing safe and effective treatments.

How much weight is lost on average?

A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that participants lost an average of 15% of their body weight over more than a year, with more than one-third of the study participants losing more than 20%.

Does it work for everyone?

If semaglutide doesn’t help someone lose weight, it could be because the dose is low. We help manage and fine-tune dosages to ensure patients see the benefits of their weight loss medications. Take our quiz to learn more about whether you can benefit from semaglutide.

Can I take semaglutide if I’m breastfeeding?

Health care professionals believe semaglutide is destroyed in the infant’s gastrointestinal tract, so the baby probably can’t absorb the drugs. However, we do not recommend using these medications while breastfeeding.

How is semaglutide administered?

Semaglutide is injected into the fat of the upper arm, thigh, or abdomen once every seven days.

Will I be able to drink alcohol while on semaglutide?

There are no studies that evaluate the safety of drinking alcohol while using semaglutide. Because these medications lower blood sugar, you should discuss with a medical professional whether it’s OK to have an occasional drink. Because alcohol contributes to weight gain, drinking may reduce semaglutide’s effectiveness.
