What causes testosterone decline?

There is no single reason for declining testosterone levels. However, age-related “low T” is very common, affecting about 40% of men over the age of 45. Testosterone levels vary throughout the day depending on several factors, making it difficult to know what level is appropriate. The causes of declining testosterone levels are many, including certain medications (including steroids), alcohol abuse, sleep apnea, and obesity or extreme weight loss.
