In this eye-opening roundtable discussion, the experts at Rejuvime Medical take a deeper look at Semaglutide and its medical benefits beyond just weight loss.

Welcome, everyone, to our roundtable discussion. that’s generating a lot of buzz lately, and that’s Semaglutide. Most people know Semaglutide for its great effects in regards to diabetes and weight loss, but we’re here today to go beyond BMI. We’re gonna talk about the amazing medical benefits that go beyond just shedding some pounds. I’m Holly Valentine, and I’m the lead medical provider at Rejuvime Medical. I’m Amy Patterson, and I am the medical provider at our Shreveport location. And I’m Alli Hansell. I’m the medical provider at our D’Iberville, Mississippi location. First, let’s dive into the cardiovascular benefits of Semaglutide. This is one of my favorite things to talk about with my patients. Semaglutide has been shown to reduce the blood pressure and also to reduce cholesterol levels. Semaglutide has also been shown to reduce major cardiovascular events, like heart attacks and strokes. So what I like to tell my patients as we’re putting the big picture together, we’re also reducing inflammation and we’re helping with blood pressure getting better and cholesterol levels improving further. So one benefit of Semaglutide that a lot of people overlook is how it relates to your liver health. The liver is a very vital organ and does a lot of responsibilities. We do see sometimes that patients have fatty liver, and that Semaglutide can help improve those liver enzymes further. Yeah, Semaglutide causes weight loss, which is gonna bring down your blood lipid levels and decrease the incidence of fatty liver disease. Right, and that can be even more pronounced in patients who have advanced liver disease, like cirrhosis and even liver cancers. Semaglutide has been shown to show improvement in those patients, as well. Now, let’s get into something that I know a lot of women suffer with, and I have personally dealt with, which is PCOS, or polycystic ovarian syndrome. So PCOS is basically excess androgen hormones. That can look like excess facial hair, insulin resistance, hair thinning, acne. Semaglutide can actually be used off-label as a treatment for PCOS. Right, and help lower their testosterone levels to decrease those symptoms. And as Amy mentioned, we do see these women struggle with a degree of insulin resistance. And sometimes these women do have issues with weight. They struggle with, you know, trying to lose that weight. And Semaglutide can also benefit them in that, as well. Right, and that’s why one of the top treatments is actually a diabetes medication called Metformin. That is one of the best treatments for PCOS. But we’ve seen a lot of great results with Semaglutide in these women.  Yes, definitely. Semaglutide also has a lot of anti-inflammatory effects, which are great for managing conditions like arthritis, and also helping with fluid retention. And people that are overweight typically have more incidence of arthritis, degenerative disc disease, and other issues with their joints. I see a lot of patients that struggle with inflammation in their joints. This can lead to further issues like chronic diseases. Right, so this is really key in helping with the chronic pain that comes from these inflammatory processes and also with autoimmune diseases. Your health journey is about so much more than just your weight. If you’re considering semaglutide, reach out to us at Rejuvime Medical or visit our website, rejuvimemedical.com.
